Are Goals For Personal Development Necessary For The Home Business Entrepreneur?

To answer the question, are goals for personal development necessary for the home business entrepreneur, you need to ask yourself some pertinent questions.

These questions should be similar to:

·         How do I get people to connect with me?

·         How do I develop a relationship with them?

·         How do I get them to buy from me? And.....

·         Why should they join me in my business or buy my products?

Getting the connection:

Your personal development is vital to build confidence and get the initial contact. If you can learn how to get the best from this experience, then you will grow in confidence and be more positive in your outlook. This will help to draw more people to you because people like to be around positive people.

If your work requires you to make connections, then this area may be the easiest thing for you to do. If you are sociable and make friends easily or get into good conversations easily, then you can make connections. If not, then you may need to find a way to overcome shyness, or develop more confidence around people so that you can interact better with them. A lot of people don’t want to admit that they have problems connecting with new people, but this is vital for you to start your journey to success. After all, what is the point of having a great business model or product if you don’t connect with people in order to share it?

So how do you get people to connect with you? These days there are social media sites everywhere that you can use to connect with new people. Get into groups that are based around the niche you are working in and join in the conversations adding value. This way you will be noticed and people will check you out. Another good way is to find local networking groups and events that you can take part in. You need to get out of your comfort zone and expand your reach, so take the first step and it will get easier. There is great training available on the web to help you find the best ways to use social media to grow your network of friends and associates and therefore help to build your business.

Develop Relationships:

Learning the psyche of a typical person and how to handle this is a personal development exercise you may need to consider. This will help you to deal with objections in the correct way without conflict. You must remember that people believe they are the most important thing in every transaction, so it’s important for you to offer something that will help THEM with their problems.

When you have connected with new people, how do you develop a relationship with them? Simple really – base your conversations around how you can help them with their problems. Offer them solutions that you know work for you. One of the best ways to communicate with countless numbers of people is by email. If you can get them onto your email list, you can communicate with them and share parts of your day and get various offers to them so that you can sell. Obviously, the first thing is to gain trust, but being “real” and not too pushy is key.

If you are on Facebook, get yourself a fan page and brand yourself. It’s important to have the fan page in your name as this will help to brand yourself and get you noticed.

Getting more sales and signups:

Your new found skill in recognizing the psyche of the prospect and how to deal with any eventuality will also help you to get more people to get closer to you and trust you.

How do you get your new prospects to buy from you? You help to build trust through your new connection. You can only do this by being honest and truthful these days. People don’t like to feel “duped” or conned or be bombarded with offer after offer with no reason for them to buy. If you provide great value to your new prospects, it’s more likely they will begin to know you better and begin to like you. Then the trust will grow and it’s more likely they will buy from you, join you in your business or both.

Find out why the prospect will join you:

To answer the final and most pertinent question; your new prospects will join you in your business or purchase from you because you have taken the trouble to show you care for THEM and their needs, not just your own. People will join PEOPLE, not companies. They will want to work with you because you offer them great value and advice and they will work with you to develop and reach their ultimate goals along with you. Working on your personal development and people skills will help you to bring in more people to your business and therefore have more sales and make more money.

So what is your opinion? Are goals for personal development necessary for the home business entrepreneur? Attracting new prospects and getting sales and new sign ups is a major part of success, so I believe personal development is vital. Your thoughts are welcome…..

You Attract What You Are By Developing Your Personality

When working in the Network Marketing industry these days it’s important that you attract what you are by developing your personality. The more “giving” your personality, the more likely it is that people will notice you and your confidence and like you. This will in turn lead to them joining you in your business or learning from you and buying your products.

I have an example of how developing your personality and building your self-confidence and belief affects the way others think about you. This example is based on observance of 2 cats that are our pets at home. This is the way things go……..

The older cat, who is the grandmother of the younger one, is very pushy and gets angry with the younger cat. She always seems nervous and runs away from the younger cat. She is also very pushy and demands attention rather than being genuinely friendly. There is a theory of why she is like this, but we treat her in the right way and look after her welfare.

Having lost the younger cat’s mother when he and his sisters were very young, we hand reared the kittens until the females were given to new homes. We kept the male because he was the one who seemed the most loving and he has a great character. He is supremely confident and is dominant, simply because of the grandmother’s attitude. He is friendly to everyone and is not overly demanding except for when he wants feeding, which is natural. He tries to be friends with his grandmother, but for no apparent reason, the older cat spits and hisses at him and instigates a fight or a bad reaction every time she sees him. This attitude has the exact opposite reaction from people than the reaction to the younger cat. Only the other day my son’s girlfriend said that although the older cat was pleasant in some ways, she didn’t like her; yet she thought the younger cat was lovely and was a truly friendly and attractive cat with a great personality. The reality is that it seems that everybody likes the younger cat, while very few actually “like” the older one. So…..

What does this teach us? Basically that if you have an attitude that is based around promoting your business to anyone and everyone without connecting with them and developing a friendly relationship, you are most likely going to be thought of as “pushy” and people will distance themselves from you. Should you develop a helpful and friendly relationship with your prospect that show you as a confident and balanced person who cares and is sincere, you are more likely to develop a winning relationship that will develop into a great business relationship.

Work on your personal development and be positive in your actions in further developing your personality so people will notice that you attract what you are and will connect with you. If you are evasive and show any kind of “leave me alone” vibe you will be just that – left alone. People will hang around positive people, so work on your personality so you can attract more prospects and sign ups into your business.
